DLVE-SLP: Distance Learning in VA Educating Speech Language Pathologists

Objective PHOTO: Class Group

This project was created in response to the shortage of qualified speech language pathologists across the country and specifically in the public schools of Virginia. Hampton University, James Madison University, Longwood University and the University of Virginia have teamed together to be able to provide access to an accredited Masters degree in speech language pathology through distance education technologies.

Targeted Applicant

This project is designed for persons interested in earning a Masters degree in speech language pathology on a part time basis through online technology. "Career changers" and educators are encouraged to apply. This project is supported by a grant from the Virginia Department of Education. Virginia state residents will be given first priority.

Please note: The demand from VA for admission into the program is expected to fulfill the available seats in the next cohort.

What our students say about DLVE-SLP

"The professors are extremely knowledgeable regarding course content. Most of all, they have been incredibly supportive and truly vested in our success." Elizabeth Edens, Class of 2010

"Without this program, I would not have been able to fulfill my dream of completing my Master’s in Communication Sciences and Disorders. As a wife, a mom, and a full-time employee, this program is my only option to become the Speech Language Pathologist I set out to be originally 10 years ago!" Shannon Williams, Class of 2010
